Palm Beach Web Solutions is a website design, development, and maintenance company owned and operated by Jason Carpentier [jason@palmbeachwebsolutions.com]. It has expanded from a technical hobby to a full-fledged side-business, as my expertise has grown and my clientele base has expanded. The next step of going full-time is not in the big picture: it would force me to raise prices, would no longer be fun, and would take away the following liberties:

› History
Once I was exposed to web programming in college, I was hooked. I was able to manipulate something, see the effects immediately, and share it worldwide. During the summer of 2002, I partnered with Keith Lorinos, a fellow web-savvy engineering student, to form e-xposure web design. The business was re-branded in 2007 as Palm Beach Web Solutions, following my own advice to entrepreneurs that business names should obviously state the services they provide and markets they serve.
› Background in Development
My formal training is a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with concentration in Computer Engineering (Vanderbilt 2005). Most web programming is an evolved version of C programming, a fundamental of any discipline of engineering. In fact, after learning how to program in engineering software packages (such as MatLab, Mathematica, and Microprocessor simulators), learning HTML, CSS, Javascript, DHTML, PHP, MySQL, Photoshop, and Adobe Flash was easy.

I have had an avid interest in art since I was young. I have drawn comic strips, published drawings in magazines, had art portraits on tour, and served as a cartoonist for two college newspapers. I enjoy bringing to the web my eye for design. I even spent a semester studying the nature of the visual system--how on a physiological level the eye and brain network together to generate a response that you may or may not pay attention to.

Nowadays, customer service is a laughable joke. I can't stand being
put on hold, pressing 1 for English, dealing with case numbers,
talking to people who need to put me on hold while they "look up the
record."
I take the old-fashioned approach to my clients: I arrange a
time to meet with you with the intent of listening. I then keep
ongoing conversations to make sure my clients are happy and getting
what they pay for, as soon as I can deliver it. I do this because when
I am a consumer, this is the kind of treatment I would love to have.
